Whilst it is 1.3 kilo heavier than my Canon 800mm (5.8 vs 4.5 - that 1.3 Kilo is quite a bit!) it should be manageable. After all I used to lug around the original Canon EF 400 F2.8 L at 6.1 kilo!

Life is for living, cameras are to capture it (one day I will learn how!).

So you did not crop too much, nothing like a mama bear that you took with 800 mm! :-)

I love that image.

Whilst I was shooting birds with my 7D Mk I and 100-400 L Mk I, I had one of those flying towards me.

I was out practicing with the gear as it was new to me and began clicking off frames as the bird approached.

It was not until the sequence was done that I saw the bird was taking dinner home with him.

I cannot wait to get this new 100-400 L Mk II and EOS 5D Mk IV out hunting this week.

Here is one of those frames, from back in 2010 .........

I still would like to be longer thats for curtain. one day. Its hard to find a better all around lens than the 100-400L II. I find its biggest down fall is the f5.6 in the darkest times. Which of course is when we find the great stuff happening

I would have sneaked up on them but it was a place I could not get to without them seeing me. But thats ok it was the same distance to my house so i'm sure I will get a chance to get close. I prefer under 20 feet for good detail lol

So, dumb question... why does it say "focus distance between 81.91m and 559.79m"? Doesn't it know much more precisely than that what distance the lens is focused at?

I love a like, but feedback (including CC) is even better!

Maybe it ( it being the camera / lens ) does know the exact distance that relates to the position the lens has moved to achieve focus, but it does not release that data to the interface that stores the data the plug in reads.

Just like focus assist points that may or may not be in use, or the apparent activation points that do not appear to be in the plane of focus, I am pretty sure that some of the information shown in the plugin is a result of interpretation and not the actual data coming from the camera.

A coupla bodies and a few lenses
