These I let live. Wonderful capture....still a rodent though but just not as destructive as you know what :)

Lol well... The Red Squirrel has this year been my all time bigger hit on flickr some 24,603 views , 1738 favs , 204 comments. For a Red Squirrel... Of all the things I have shot... ??? It leaves me shaking my head. A shot I took waiting for my truck to warm up enough to drive way on a snowy February day.

Hey Dave - how big are those possums? Here in the US our possums are like 20" bodies plus tail so it would take a massive hawk for that image. Thanks. Pete

Body 300 mm - 350 mm, Tail 300 mm - 350 mm, weight 700 - 1100 g.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powerful_owl (external link)
This species measures 45 to 65 cm (18 to 26 in) in length and spans 112 to 135 cm (44 to 53 in) across the wings.
Body mass in males have been reported at 0.99 to 2.22 kg (2.2 to 4.9 lb), with 13 males averaging 1.45 kg (3.2 lb), while females can weigh from 1.04 to 1.6 kg (2.3 to 3.5 lb), with an average in 9 females of 1.25 kg (2.8 lb).

Its body mass is about the same on average as the great horned owl (Bubo virginianus) but has a proportionately much longer tail and wings than that species.

Well then it would take one heck of a "Powerful owl" to carry off one of our bloated fat possums! That is a large impressive owl. Thanks Dave.

I see some of you use camo and others don't. I know I see a definite shyness from wildlife when I don't. I wish Canon would offer camo finish on lenses and camera bodies. I would pay extra for it. I was at the lake with my new lens the other day and had a Dad (fishing with his kids) tell me that if it wasn't for the white part of my lens that the LensCoat doesn't cover they wouldn't have realized I was there. (I know that the LensCoat has a part that can be installed over that part but then it can't be retracted, which just doesn't work for me.) This set me to work getting that covered. I did some research and found a product for hunters "Hunter's Specialties Camo No-Mar Vinyl Gun and Bow Tape". I picked some up and gave it a try. You can see the results. Not perfect but the only better option was a Duracoat custom paint job that's expensive and permanent. This tape doesn't leave an adhesive residue when peeled off. And for it to retract smoothly you have to cut the tape to fit without any overlap at all. There is a bit of glare but some leaves have a glossy surface also so hopefully it will be less noticable than the white finish was. My camo gloves break up the body enough I think.
Anyone else have suggestions?
