Just a fun point - while the whole earth does get the same light originally, try digging into the differences elevation and such can play with light color, intensity, and availability. I used to live in Georgia and Florida (prior to taking up photography) and even then I loved the light. I moved to South Dakota and lost that "feel" from the light. I'm in the Denver, CO area now, and the light is a bit harsher (and you burn way faster) than in Florida. The areas in which we each live can greatly affect the quality of light in which we shoot.

So, if I could bring Jeff's foxes and martens to Florida to shoot beach pics in the late afternoon, I would be very happy! Or create a system that would allow me to transport the light to Jeff's location - but then we would all head up there to shoot ;-)a

Ha "My Back Yard" lol .... I do love it... But hey it takes a tremendous amount of skill to even find the critter's, let alone get a camera on them. lol
O and I'm not really this chubby.. thats a down coat. LMAO

Just curious, have you tried the Nikon 200-400 or Nikon 200-500 lenses? Any useful comparison if you compare with a comparable Nikon body?

I got to try out the 200-500mm in Botswana, it was on a much older Nikon body, but the lens is an amazing bargain!

I understand that the Nikon 80-400mm continues to lag behind the Canon, but the 200-500mm is really offering a different class. OEM superb AF and Optics, with "3rd party" focal range AND Price! It really leaves the Nikon owner no reason to look at SIGMA / Tamron.
