I’ve been suffering from an ongoing case of severe GAS for the last few months that has me poised for crazy decision-making and camera brand jumping. As a result, I’m really trying to dial myself back into reality and just shoot with the awesome equipment I currently own.

Sooo, I decided to ignore doing homework on Saturday and went to the Zoo instead

Nice! And I bet that the great shots you got will have you questioning that crazy thought of camera-brand jumping ;-)a

Came across an eagles nest while roaming the back roads of coastal Argentina. The last image is one of the parents. Not sure what the other bird is. He was hanging around in the same bush.

Not very original but I don't get close and at eye level too often.

Edit. Not sure why this looks a lot less sharp after posting this.

George- I've found that for some reason, posting hosted photos in vertical/portrait orientation causes issues with IQ. For this very reason, it's not too often you'll see me share a vertical photo that's hosted on POTN. Sharing from Flickr (and maybe other hosting sites?) seems to do a better job of maintaining IQ with this orientation.

If anyone reading this has found the secret dimensions for vertical shots that maintains crisp IQ when hosted on POTN, let me know :) For horizontal shots, I export from LR at the max-allowed POTN dimensions on the long side (1280, I think?), and it does a good job at keeping things sharp.

This is a wonderful photograph. Composition, environment, detail, bokeh.... very well done.

I was noticing the same thing with vertical black and white images when linked to my Smugmug. They looked soft to the point of "what's the point in posting them." They were sharp on Smugmug. Hosting them on the forum looks a lot better but still not as sharp as Smugmug.

I never noticed this until getting a 4K monitor. Not sure if that is a factor or not.
