Choderboy I like a long knob More info | Mar 28, 2015 04:00 | #707 LonelyBoy wrote in post #17494073 I must ask... why do you (and a bunch of other people) write "11" instead of "II" for mark II versions? They look similar (ish), but eleven is very different from two, and the keys are nowhere near each other on the keyboard. 1401 and 1402. Much easier. Dave

Thanks for sharing. I look forward to working with my new 60D this weekend. I got it earlier this week, but I have not had a chance to really sit down and go over it because of work. I shot a couple yesterday when I got home, but while I was inside changing out to my 400 mm f/5.6L, it started raining and I never got the chance to shoot with it as the light was fading as I had planned. I was a bit concerned about the condition of the shipping box but all is well. ![]() Thankfully the lens was fine. Looks like the shipping company did a number on that one. Kerry Sanders | flickr

I have received packages from Adorama and they have always been in good condition. This is definitely the work of the shipping company. Kerry Sanders | flickr

I need to throw the 1.4x extender behind my 400 mm f/5.6L and try it with my 60D this weekend. I was just OK with the 20D all these years, but I expect that the 60D and higher ISO ability will make me a good bit happier. Kerry Sanders | flickr

No critters have ventured this far north yet. ![]() I woke up this morning and did not expect the temperatures to be in the 30's in Alabama this morning. It is warming up a bit now, but our high is supposed to only be in the upper 40's. We had been in the 70's and low 80's earlier this week. Kerry Sanders | flickr

Wallstreet, I think when all is said and done the 100-400ii will be one of the greatest lenses ever made; it was surely worth the seemingly decades long wait for the upped gen, beyond that it was beyond most people's expectations and the hidden gems like super close focus, Until now, it seems to me that the 100-400 mm lens had not been changed by Cannon since I purchased most of my other lenses which was in the 2005-2006 timeframe. I that right? Kerry Sanders | flickr

John_T Goldmember More info | The original 100-400 version I was introduced in 1998 and has remained essentially unchanged up until today. The new 100-400 version II can be considered to be a totally new lens with all the latest technologies and built like a tank. I had the original 100-400 for a good ten years and it was a very good lens that served me well, but I think the new one exceeds anything we ever dreamed of while using the old version. Go back to the beginning of this thread if you want to pick up on the specifics, but it is really a no-brainer. Canon : EOS R : 5DIV : 5DS R : 5DIII : 7DII : 40 2.8 : 50 1.4 : 35L : 85L : 100L IS Macro : 135L : 16-35L II : RF-24-105L IS : 70-200L II : 100-400L IS II : 1.4x & 2x TC III : 600EX-RT : 580EX : 430EX : G1XII : Markins Q10 & Q3T : Jobu Gimbal : Manfrotto Underware : etc...

ScottM Goldmember More info | Mar 28, 2015 14:46 | #719 My lens arrived earlier this week, and I made a trip to the zoo today to put it though its paces for the first time. The image stablization is a huge improvement over the old version, as is the AF speed. It will take me some time to get used to the twist zoom, as my hand kept falling on the tension ring instead of the zoom ring -- my muscle memory has not forgotten the push/pull of the old model yet. Here are a few more shots from this morning's very cold trip, which included snow flurries when I first entered the zoo. On the plus side, I was the only visitor walking around. The things we do to try our new toys.
