I had a great experience with the 7D2 and this lens. The problem was only when using it in a combination with the 1.4x TC, both II and III, it was not sharp enough.

I am having even better experience with this lens when using it with the 5D4, though... :-)

Mine needs a lot if MFA when the 1.4 goes on for both the 7D2 and 5D4.

No amount of MFA on the 7D2 helped when using first 1.4x II and then III. I tried DotTune, I bought FoCal Pro, nothing helped. And it was not back-or front-focusing, just kind of haziness. I was happy when using the 7D2 and the 70-200 f4 IS and any 1.4 TC.

With the 5D4 this combo, 100-400 II plus 1.4x TC III, required just +2, which is practically nothing, and I am really happy with the sharpness.

I've never been completely satisfied with my photographs using the 1.4X lll with both the 7D2 and/or the 1D IV. I have no problem getting the shots, but they are just that little bit soft. I'll try again when the bird rookeries are in full swing in Northern Florida. They are already going gangbusters in the South of Florida.

That's what I thought Jeff. I did all the right things. I walked 11ks every morning and again in the evening. Hadn't smoked for 14 yrs. Ex military so looked after myself, and then told I needed the bypass due to "hereditary cholesterol". Continued to look after myself after that and then got took with an abdominal aortic aneurism. Apparently very few survive outside a hospital setting if it ruptures, as you bleed out in a matter of seconds. The normal size is around 2cms mine was 6.3 with no symptoms and was only discovered with the annual check on my bypass.............so, I decided that my card was already marked and one of the first things I did coming out of hospital, was to have a ciggy...............let it all hangout...............life's not about how long you live but how you live it

I reckon that this combo took me places I wouldn't go., spiritually, mentally blah blah. First time I've ever been (almost) totally happy with what I was producing. I'll still go there with the m43 kit and I know I'll bemoan the loss of IQ, but if I struggle to hold the combo steady, what's the point of hanging onto it and being reminded that my body's fecked, and letting that detract from what I love doing?.............just being out there!

Have you tried green lip mussel extract from NZ for the joints?

Tried homeopathy?

Good story in pictures! Too bad for both parties (bird and fish). Cormorants and herons are clumsy and lose their catch all the time, but just go and get it again. Did the eagle try to recover it?

It's "calcification" around an old shoulder break. Not much would help other than surgery and that's not worth the risk with my surgical history.

Well the lens has gone along with the body, teleconverter and speedlight. I'm $4K wealthier but somehow I'm no happier. I've never had a s much photography fun in my life as when I bought this lens. Won't be on this thread but hope to post on the bird and looking at you threads where there will still be familiar faces :-)

We'll probably be saying that about the 100-400 for a very long time. ....Happiness... well I'm still trying to figure that one out and the camera and lens are only a few feet away.
