Well the lens has gone along with the body, teleconverter and speedlight. I'm $4K wealthier but somehow I'm no happier. I've never had a s much photography fun in my life as when I bought this lens. Won't be on this thread but hope to post on the bird and looking at you threads where there will still be familiar faces :-)

We'll probably be saying that about the 100-400 for a very long time. ....Happiness... well I'm still trying to figure that one out and the camera and lens are only a few feet away.

Kev....I ve been meaning to say this to you for some time. Not only do I appreciate the images you've posted and your other contributions to this forum,
,but I especially appreciate your taxonomic notations. Too often very nice images are posted of very interesting animal without any identification. You have been a great example to all members of this forum.

Looking forward to seeing your new work!

Very Best,

Paul

Well thank you very much Paul

As soon as this cyclone passes, I'll be out shooting again. IQ will never match this lens but with lesser weight, hopefully I can cover more ground and continue to contribute to other threads.

Maybe you want to consider the Oly 300mm f/4. Is it better that the Canon 100-400? Tough call, but it is smaller, lighter, about the same $$ and a 600mm full frame equivalent. That's what I did and I am quite happy with the results I am getting.

Cheers.

80D right now.

You will get nice results. I took the 80D for a test run. Loved the silky look from the sensor.
