Interesting encounter this morning. I was quite close to this Powerful owl when I first spotted it. I was immediately sure that I do not know this owl. About 30 seconds later it started closing it's eyes. As I left a couple of minutes later it did not react to the sound of me leaving. Almost certainly the owl knows me! So now I know who it is, last years chick (fledged July 28)

I prefer to be in the bush with the animals than a crowded city.

Interesting having a connection with the bush and its critters is it not ?? People think I'm flaky when I talk about things like this...

That could be... I guess I'm ok with that.

Sorry for another (or may be the same) bluejay from today. Looks like he has become frequent visitor.

Turns out I was wrong about the identity of the Powerful owl I posted yesterday. It was dad, not the chick.
Here he is today, living up to his namesake with a Brush-tailed possum. It's an adult possum and would weigh more then the owl.
It's more common for them to catch the smaller Ring-tailed possum.

And the missus, a few metres away: The tail still stained from the hollow used to breed last year (brooding occurred in May)
