or deliberate addition in post processing?

However, I am surprised to see such strong vignetting, particularly noticeable in the sky - right behind the bird it is a light sky, but in the corners and across the top the sky gets darkened out. I haven't experienced vignetting like that at all with my 100-400mm, even when I use it with a full frame body. . Why this vignetting happened to you with this lens is a mystery to me. . Thanks. I am not home so can’t check but it is probable that the vignette was added in LR. I routinely do it although sometimes too much. It is habitual...... Ed

Yeah I actually quit using the vignette removal feature in LR as it really needs to be backed off to 75% in most cases depending on F stop used.

Artistic Impression Sometimes I will use it to give the image a centre and more depth, I'm sure some would not use any, .. I'm sure Ed did the same thing. Sometimes its 4 o'clock in the morning and we shouldn't be processing lol15% vig 100-400LM + 1.4III handheld while sitting in a deck chair drinking coffee What he said!!! Ed

This morning I was forced to shoot in very low light and to get my ISO down I tried 1/100 and 1/80 hand held and got great results with the IS on this lens. Cropped the second image slightly to get the file size below 10MB. Image hosted by forum (914379) © GAJoe [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff. saea501 ... spilled over a little on the panties More info | May 20, 2018 12:32 | #8275 The incoming storm made for a great background to this little Snowy. I like the water drop on his beak too. About 5 minutes after these pictures I was pretty well soaked. Winds great enough to make it rain sideways. And I was under a shelter. The rain coat on my Lowepro bag works great. Remember what the DorMouse said.....feed your head.

Interestingly enough.......pretty much every time I've heard that kind of stuff it turns out to be the proverbial pant load of crap. If somebody is preaching to you that you can't or shouldn't do this or that, chances are pretty high that they don't have a clue. They've been readin' too much and not shootin' enough.
