Tried the lens + TC on my T3i today. Of course it has no working AF so it is manual or live view. Flying birds - forget it; swimming birds - got some good ones. Took more pictures with that camera today than I've taken with it in the past 2 years. Not relying on the camera to get it right was a lot of fun. For subjects that are fairly close and not moving/changing distance live view does a really good job.

From today: caught this little guy/gal taking a bath.

I've just been playing catch up with this thread as I haven't been around for a while. So, several hours later and I'm now up to speed again. This lens certainly generates a lot of discussion.

Anyhow, here's a recent one of mine. Just shows how good this lens is as the 6D can't do action shots apparently.

The reviewers also said the same about the 5DSR when it first came out. Said it was only good for studio work or outdoor landscapes anchored on a tripod :):)

Thought I would post some info on the "Fringer" smart adapter thats just come out for the Canon ef lens so they can be used on the Fuji X mirrorless cameras. https://www.fringeradapter.com (external link)

I preordered one for $295.00USD and received it yesterday. I took a couple of test shots today with the 100-400 Mk2 on my Fuji xt-20 and nearly fell of my chair it was that sharp. Infact it was sharper at the 400mm end with my little Fuji xt-20 than it was on my 5dsr! . And I thought my 5dsr was sharp but this little fuji took it to a brand new level. And in good light ( which I bought it for) I got almost perfect results with no noticeable slow down in AF acquisition. And the bonus here is IS works as well . Infact I ran a few tests at 14 frames per second RAW and it got every one of the shots in focus with no slowdown . Low light is a different story though with it hunting at times however I didnt get it for indoors or evening shots I got it for wildlife including birds in flight as a second camera lens combo to my 5dsr that has the 400mm 2.8 with extender on . As long as the Fringer is used in reasonable day light from morn to late afternoon its fast and accurate

To get a good feel of what this combo is capable off I have included 2 test shots from today
1st shot is at 100mm to show full scene . 2nd shot is at the 400mm end of the zoom and at 100% crop of the 40kph road sign. The sharpness is lightroom default and NR is minimal so as not to affect the test sharpness. This is sharp sharp! especially given no extra sharpening except for Lightroom fuji x-t20 default

*****UPDATE ******

Today I updated to the latest firmware and now some of the issues I had are better..that is, 1. CL (5 frames per sec) speed is fine with all images consistantly acquiring AF fast and in focus using 92 AF points 2. Low light performing way better on single shot single AF point although Continuous focus still hunts more in lower light situations. Bottom line is if shooting during day in reasonable light this adapter/lens combo is well worth the purchase price

I'm loving all the great images on this thread! My wife and I each have one of these lenses, they're worth every penny. Here's one of my favorite images.
