It's unbelievable Mark, what nice images your are getting with such slow shutter speeds. That is amazing.

Often mistaken, but never in doubt.

Thanks sir! I'll be honest, I take more than one!!! The 80d shows every nuance of flaws much more than the 70d or 5dIV did! It requires some controlled breathing/calmness/patience but it still beats toting a tripod around as I chained myself to one of those for years doing landscapes...good riddance!

This chipmunk was 24 feet away from the camera.
The EF 100-400 II with a 1.4 III extender on a full-frame camera, and then cropped the images.

Same chipmunk gear, but 18 feet away:

To say that this shot is stunning would be an egregious understatement

A couple of very nice images.

For the first image, have you tried a crop without the heavily blurred [tree trunk, I presume] on the far left?

Cheers, Damien

Yeah but I wanted to keep the owl somewhat in the same area while retaining the wing...

Thanks for humouring me. In my humble opinion, that crop looks better. I found the blurry trunk distracting. Beauty is, of course, in the eye of the beholder . . .
