I'm surprised that they range that far North as cold as it gets. I'm in North Georgia and we don't have gators. Are they common or rare?

Yes they are very common and can be very large. I've had them turn up in my yard during laying season. This is what she is doing here. Although the fox eat most of the eggs over the week.

This one is about 12 or 13 inches across. I do believe the 100-400L and the 1.4III was a little over kill. :-)

just recently purchased a ef 100-400f/4.5-5.6L IS II....was thinking about picking up a Canon 2xII extender. Is this going to be a workable solution. Have a 1.4 (Tokina teleplus pro 300) but would like to see what the 2x II can do with this lens if it is doable and can continue to get sharp images....

all thoughts and suggestions are welcome...
