When at Huntington Beach State Park near Myrtle Beach last week, I had a chance to try out a 1.4x TC with this lens. Here are a couple of handheld shots with a 5D3 + Kenko Teleplus Pro 300DG 1.4x TC that were also cropped in Lightroom.

Hi all

A quick question and sorry if I missed the answer anywhere on these 58 pages .

I received mine only this morning (packed very well, even a very tight fitting bubble wrap bag over the 'case') so only a very quick try out done but looks like it may need a very slight MFA at the 400mm end ~ I think it might show a tad of back focusing? The short end seems spot on.

The question is has anyone else found the same?

I will be giving it a better run to discern if is indeed 'off' and if so will have to use MFA for this first time ever as my old 100-400 was OK as is my 24-105. Oh this is on a 5D3 so if I recall this body allows for MFA being done/different at each end of a zoom.

That was a great meal ~ you must have a good set of pans :p

I haven't needed any adjustment on both 5D3 and 7D2. I would spend some time with it as is until you see you have a consistent issue and not just some beginning misses. I know I had some thoughts at first but they all ironed out to nothing.

It'll be totally dependent on the combination of a particular lens sample on a particular body sample - so a lens that backfocusses on one body may front focus on another (or be perfect, or any combination of the above).

Camera, some lenses, too little time, too little talent

Yes, use the camera for a while before doing MFA. I didn't; it made the learning curve for the 7D2 harder. After lots of messing around, I only needed MFA for one lens and that was with an extender.

Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.

Amazing pictures on this thread. Thanks all, you've just cost me $2200!! ;)

I ordered the lens at Adorama. For those of you who order it there, how long did you wait before you got it? I know it can vary, but I just want to have an idea :)

Thanks,

Thanks,

Not counting the weekend days, I believe it took 3 days to get to Minnesota. That's assuming they have it in stock and ship it out right away.

As B&H did not have it in stock when I ordered, I had to wait a week before it was shipped. From New York (actually NJ where the warehouse is) to Massachusetts it was delivered the next day even though it was free shipping.
