A really nice sharp set of images pcs.

London calling Australia. Come on you Aussies down under with your 100-400 mkIIs. If you are near Adelaide what about posting a picture of Matthew Flinders statue. He is topical with us at the moment because they think they have excavated his long lost resting place.
Edit. They use Flinders balls (and a bar) for magnetic compass correction.

I haven't noticed any Adelaideans posting here Ray (I'm 2000 miles away from there). If there are any, their lenses may have melted yesterday; Adelaide hit a balmy 46.6C (115.9F) as measured in a standard Stevenson screen.

Thanks Pippan. I thought L series lenses were grey to reflect the heat?
It was a a-hearted comment but I thought it could raise some interest or competition.
I had a Stevenscreen in my garden a few years ago. I have stopped using it but still have a good collection of weather instruments, with both mercury and aneroid barometers (Kew and Fortin) and barographs if you are interested. I could tell you a tale of the collapse of a Stevenson screen sometime, but it was in my school days and might bore the pants off everyone.

Too much weight of snow? I'm familiar with those instruments. I took the official weather observations at Uluru for the second half of the '90s. The last few days there were a fair bit hotter than any I observed.

First couple of keepers with the 2x TC. Focus is noticeably slower, but works on the R

Going through some old shots, not sure how I ever missed this one!

Weight of snow? That would have been easy to explain. A classmate and myself were clowning around in the upper floor gym store when he hurled a bloody great medicine ball at me. I side-stepped. The medicine ball went clean through the open window behind me and into the quadrangle outside, home to the treasured Stevenson Screen weather station. A direct hit - bits of weather station everywhere. Punishment - Six of the very best and an hours extra maths every night for a week. Our head took no prisoners, but unlike today, he was respected.
