Airbus A400M flying over Scotland - 6th May 2020

I don't think I've ever photographed a plane before and it's not something I really go after. I'm all about wildlife & landscapes, but if this humungous aircraft appears out of nowhere (yes, it's that quiet!) and flies over your head at <100m – and your camera is already set up to take birds-in-flight – well, you're gonna take that photo! :-)

It's great your shutter was fast enough to freeze the props so we can see their unique shape. Thumbs up.

Interesting. My thought was exactly the opposite. How unreal it looks just hanging in the air with no prop movement.

I continue to be amazed at how well this lens does with close up shots

If the light's available stopping it down a bit really makes a difference.

Groucho Marx once said he didnt want to be a member of any club that would have him. Well I'm glad to be joining this club.

No ducks on the pond, so I upgraded to a goose.

Apologies if this has already been asked in 733 pages of discussion(!) but does anyone use those kind of chest-holster devices with this lens?

Some sort of webbing arrangement that keeps the weight conveniently and securely easy-to-reach at your front, rather than having the whole shebang 'side-slung' which can be inconvenient and heavy at times.

Or if not that, what's your live carrying solution if – like me – you're the kind of shooter who is hiking up mountains and trekking several miles a day over rough ground with this lens and need it primed and 'at the ready' at all times.

I am guessing you are talking about the Cotten carrier. I don't have one so can't answer your question but you now have a name to research. There are many knock offs on Amazon

This Red-wing wasn't interested in the cattails nearby. It's the the reddest I have been able to photograph.
