Eeeer! Slithering to a picnic spot near you.
Well I suppose the 100-400 keeps it socially distanced.-?
What type is it?

lol - I'm not sure what type, he was in San Diego, so whatever hangs out there

First outing looking for birds with this lens was an eye opener. It has been way too long since shooting birds. Definitely rusty but I think I got my best ever GBH picture. It dove in and kinda looked like a duck for a bit. Then it came out of the water with this fish that was too big for it to carry. So glad I actually got the shot. This is almost 1:1.

Gear List

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Pileated Woodpecker

Haven't done any wildlife shots for a long time. I'm a bit rusty but got a few decent shots from the kayak.

My Dad has a Red Shouldered Hawk nest in his yard. Amazing how fast they grow. This is 20 days growth.

Common Sandpiper

Not that this is anything folks here don't know already, but in addition to the stunning foreground sharpness I think the 100-400 has done a terrific job with the textured, watery background in this one.

I think this might be one of my best shots with this lens.
