He also happily hand holds a SIGMA 300-800mm zoom, weighing in at about 14 pounds!
With T-Cons!
no IS!

We need to start new Romy fanclub thread ;)

I see Romy's last thread on POTN was 2011. Still very active.
For anyone interested in seeing some extremely above average work:

Yes, it is exciting. Since I bought mine I took it off only for a short European trip, and it is now back on my camera!

well I have been shooting with and without the 1.4III for the last few days ands have come to the conclusion that the 1.4III extender has a place in your kit and sometimes is so good you dont know its there. Except that your images are screaming good as there is no replacement for displacement.

A 1.4 is next on my list. Does it make much difference if its a II or III with this lens?

I had a 1.4 II. It was good but I noticed some CA and I hate CA. I know it is easy to fix but I hate it. I never researched VII but was surprised when I was researching VIII they mentioned the CA on VII.

VIII is supposed to better all around but I'm not done testing. I'm also an advocate of pushing the crops of images taken without the 1.4 to see what you can get.

Here is my 300 F4 IS with 1.4 VII I think with my 50D. This is a while ago.

I tried my 1.4X III after the software upgrade on the 7D2.... and noticed an immediate difference just shooting stuff around the house. I'm hoping I see the same thing next time I'm out shooting birds. I don't think I'm imagining things... but one never knows. ;)

This lens continues to impress me.
It was so dark I was not expecting AF to work but tried a shot anyway.
Heavy crop, less than 25% of the original pixels.
