$2000 off 1DX Am I missing something?

I'm not really looking for a new camera, but I ran across an ad for a Canon 1Dx at 42nd Street Photo for $4500. Is there a new model coming out, or is this a bait and switch of some sort? If not, it seems like a pretty good deal. Joel

Do a search of this sight for "42nd" and see what threads come up.

If it seems too good to be true... it must be 42nd Street Photo.

Generally internet transaction motto: "If you wouldn't sell it at that price then it is probably a scam."

Very solid advice. Lots of bad experiences to be found with this seller. Buyer beware.

"42nd Street Photo" is a bait & switch store we list by name on our warning post.

The other notorious ones are Abe's of Maine, Ryther Camera, Fumfie, and DigitalOutlets. Stay away.

Does this look like a legit seller???

If you buy from 42nd street you will be missing some things:

1. A warranty, because 42nd isn't an authorized Canon reseller, and is infamous for selling grey market goods;
   
2. Standard accessories included with the camera, because 42nd is infamous for stripping things like batteries, chargers and straps then selling them to you at an additional cost as a "retail kit."
   
3. A smooth and pleasant experience, because someone from 42nd will call to try and sell you a 3rd-party warranty and the missing retail kit accessories, and blackmail you with the threat of a 5%-20% "cancellation fee" if you refuse.
   

You'll be missing your money if you go with them.

I would stick with very reputable vendors when spending that kind of cash.

go through Canon Price Watch for your 1dx! I got a great deal on mine.

Seems like a deal to me.

CPW is the best way to go.

1Dx is yesterday's technology. The 7DII already has better AF.

Bide your time. As soon as its replacement arrives, there'll be a veritable firesale on 1Dx's.

Mark my words.
