Not seen the exact answer on the MS site but for sure a lot less than 50% base on my personal experience with ICE or in fact any other stitching software.
Rule of thumb: A 20-30% overlapping works fine all the time.
ICE is one of the best ones out there specially considering the speed and seamless final result. Only lets keep the voice down or uncle Gates or his successors will bring a nice price tag for us soon
The only problem with ICE specially earlier versions was difficulty for initial install.
Usually Stitching programs have extreme difficulties with extremely wide lenses and Hugin usually fail to recognize any fisheye image for stitching. I haven't tried fisheye images with ICE and will do that soon.
This is the result of more than a dozen images obtained from distance, during storm of Dec 16-17, in California mountains, over the net, through my security camera that I turned into a card and must say if you look at the final large size image, you hardly can guess this is made by a 640x480 low rez ip camera. individual images are matrix of X and Y axis with various extreme turns due to angle of camera. Basically anything you throw into ICE, it will give you a very good result.
Thanks Microsoft and I am a happy user of ICE.
