Favorite Inkjet Printer paper?

Aloha all!

I'm new to printing anything myself and I just got a Canon Pixma Pro-10 printer with a camera package deal. I'm looking to use it just for my test prints here and there before I send anything to the lab. What are the best paper options available for inkjet? With professional paper prints, I like the Kodak Metallic paper and the Fuji Crystal Archive

I think that will depend strictly on personal taste. I use Red River papers and have been happy with them. As for which paper; well that depends entirely on what I am printing. Different papers/finishes for different jobs.

With my Pixma 9000, I like Red River's UltraPro Satin and Polar Pearl Metallic.

My favourite is Hahnemuhle Torchon. I use it for all my A3+ prints on my Epson R2880.

I've been loving Canson Baryta Photographique 310 gsm lately. Great semi gloss finish and prints b&w exceptionally well.

At home I print A4 using a Pixma MG 5150 all in one. I only use OEM Inks and I usually use Canon Pro Platinum paper (PT101) this is a high gloss paper. From the lab I usually use Fuji Crystal Archive Gloss, and for really special black and whites traditional Ilford RC papers on a Lightjet system.

Right now my favorite is Red River Aurora Art Natural on my Epson 3880. I haven't used a lot of different papers though. This combo seems to do pretty well in permanence tests.

My Fav is Epson Exhibition Fiber...

Hahnemuhle FB Baryta, Hahnemuhle Rag Satin, Canson Baryta Photographique, Red River Ultra Pro Satin, or any of the Canon papers except the Semi-gloss. But I use a Pro100 which is a dye printer so my choices may not be good for you. Get some sample packs and try some papers out.

FWIW, your printer will do better work than most wet labs you are familiar with once you have learned a little and have a workflow that is color balanced at least a little. The Canon PRO 100, PRO 10, and PRO 1 are all excellent printers.

I'm going to keep experimenting with it definitely! It installed the Adobe 1998 profile which I use always, printed a test print last night and it looked exactly as it did on my display which is calibrated

Having been printing with a Canon PRO-10 Printer on Canon Pro Luster with great results. Like you and others have mentioned, a color calibrated monitor is the key.

I use mostly Moab Colorado Fiber Satine. Relatively inexpensive and the look I like - not too 'fancy'.

EDIT: looks like it is actually more expensive than the Red River.

LOL...I don't want it to look 'expensive;' I want it to look GOOD! (just had to say that)

Is there any inkjet papers than can duplicate the look of the Kodak Metallic paper?
