I'm running my Canon Pro-100 in wireless mode with Win7 64bit. It works great, but every time I restart the PC, the printer shows to be offline afterward, and the only way to get it back is to remove the printer driver and reinstall it; a major pain!
Does anyone know how to keep it from doing this?
Thanks

Don't but would like to. Have the same problem with my crappy old Epson printer. Not as extreme (doesn't happen every time I switch off) but it does happen and is annoying. Of course all the online "help" at the printer manufacturer says is "set it to online" which of course it wont do.

I just went through this a couple weeks ago. I found the solution and it's worked perfectly since.

When you add a shared printer in Windows 7 that needs to have credentials to be able to connect, it might only work the one time immediately after adding it. After a reboot, it will be offline and you can only get it to come back online by removing and adding the printer again. To remedy this, you need to store the credentials for the print server onto the client machine. Simply checking the ‘Remember My Password’ box is not enough.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety (if in Category View) -> Credential Manager -> Add A Windows Credential

Enter the path to the print server, user name and password (of an account on the print server) then click ‘OK’. Now add the shared printer as you normally would and all should be good!

Sadly I don't have a print server. My printer is just attached to my router/modem.

Sorry I took so long responding but I didn't get an email telling me that I had responses.
Dan, as it turns out, there is a thing in the control panel that says, "use printer offline" and if that's checked it won't go online. (Don't ask me how it got checked, I didn't even know it was there.) On the "devices and printers" page, select your printer, then click at the top of the page where it says, "see what's printing." That will bring up another window with a "printer" menu on the left. Click that "printer" menu and you'll see the "use printer offline" item. If it's checked, and you can, uncheck it. That fixed mine. (If it's greyed out, check to see if you're in admin mode; you have to be admin to uncheck it.)
Car2n, it's interesting you have the same symptoms with a different problem; mine is not a shared printer.
