I've transferred images many times from my 6D to my iPhone wirelessly using Canon's system, but yesterday my files all came out to about half a megabyte each (about 500k).

Why are they so small? did I make a mistake or is that normal?

Usually the files are several megabytes (averaging 6-10, depending on the image demands) when in jpeg form.

Is there a way to download full resolution jpegs from the camera to the smartphone wirelessly?

File size aside, the EOS app and 6D have always downloaded a reduced pixel dimension file. I believe it is the preview file and measures 1920 on the long side. I don't think there are any options for full rez file, which is a real shame. I expected canon to have updated the app and camera firmware to fix this.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I just never noticed before and assumed I was getting the full jpeg.

The other day I looked at a file on my phone and liked it, uploaded it to facebook, and then later saw the pic on my computer screen. I said, "wait, that's not right."

It was then that I discovered the file was small. I guess I won't be using that feature anymore, considering my phone doesn't give me much better review than the camera itself.

It's a lot easier to go through tons of photos on the phone. On vacation or on site I've deleted photos and mailed photos to folks from the phone. They love it and they were just going to put it on facebook anyway. A Few times I've gotten some sheepish emails asking for a larger copy from Christmas card photos but that's no big deal.

I've transferred images to my iPhone knowing they were going to be a smaller resolution, but I only post those to FB and IG anyway so it's not a huge concern for me. I would never transfer those from my phone to flickr or something but for most webview (where people are going to be seeing them on a phone usually anyways) it's not really that big of a deal to me.

Heard joke once: Man goes to doctor. Says he's depressed. Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in a threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor...I am Pagliacci.” - Alan Moore
