Caribou at Denali

My wife and I stayed at one of the back country lodges in Denali in September. At the end of a hike on the 2nd day I saw a big bull at a distance. Went back to the same area the next afternoon and I was able to get some good shots. Shot with 5dMIII and 100-400 zoom.

Wow...very nice! Great color and clarity, and spectacular racks on those. That first one looks like it MIGHT have sat there too long

Thanks. He was laying when I got to him and then got up after about 20 minutes. There was another photographer there that had been following him for 5 days. Beautiful creature and beautiful surroundings in the fall tundra.

It was a fun trip and this caribou was one of the highlights.

Both beautiful captures. Looks so regal in that first one, and that is one heck of a single shovel he has there.

Thanks everyone. Talaska -- fair comment. When I was reviewing them at home after loading on the computer, I was wishing that I had shot some other framing. I see what you are talking about -- perspective could have been good with him in bottom right third surveying his domain. Next time ....
