Snapped these last month as my first tester with the new 70-400G2. Must say I do love the colour it produces and the extra 100mm focal length over the previous 70-300 is great at the local motorsport track. For the NASCAR fans it was great to see Marcus back in Australia and considering the last 9 years he forgot to turn right :P (just kidding! Jokes seriously just jokes!) he actually didn't look like he missed a step.

Going to miss watching him at the Nascar road courses. The race this past season at Watkins Glen was insane between him and Allmendinger.

One of the few shots I got of him at Chicagoland Speedway in Sept. (excuse the so so photo, I took my D70 and 70-300 kit lens, not my D300 and better lenses. Wasn't a pleasant seating arrangement this year. We got stuck next to a really ticked off woman who was upset because her family was crowding into the 3 seats I bought and I made her move down to make room for the 3 of us.)

same here, there are not enough test days for the fans any more, but it was impressive watching one vehicle doing laps. @YamahaRob yeah he was a demon on the road circuits, its funny you mention the seating, a lot of fans complain here that there isn't adequate seating made available to the spectators if you look at the hill in the distance with the second image that is the extent of supplied seating options for spectators at QLD Raceway unless you go for temporary sponsor boxes.

Yeah not a lot of seating for a track that hosts national events. My home track here (Blackhawk Farms Raceway) is about the same length as QLD Raceway and theres only 4 sets of 6 row bleachers at the whole track. Its just a club racing track.

Chicagoland Speedway took out a chunk of their stands between 2013 and 2014 Nascar races. Not a big fan of oval racing but a friend of mine is a big Nascar fan. Took her to the 2013 race there for her birthday (and again in 14 along with my dad who's never been to one before also). Dunno about this year.

Wasn't there another road course near Ipswich back in the late 80's also before QLD Raceway opened in 99?
