This is truly hard for me as the bar is set so high, I doubt any of mine belong in this thread, exceptional photos by all.

In the shot of the Blue Jay versus Red Belly Woodpecker, this was caught just before the Jay learned that the RB's rule at the feeder. Just a moment later the Jay lost a considerable amount of feathers from his chest and had a small bloody spot where they used to be. He learned quickly that a beak that can drill in wood will put the hurt on a Blue Jay's belly, too bad I wasn't able to capture the feathers flying.

Closed in on this Red Belly on my East Farm while it was looking for food on an Oak tree, no feeder and felt it was more "earned" than the ones in my yard.

Green Heron, had just arrived at one of our hunting camps, had my camera lying in the truck seat and got this quick documentary shot for my first Green Heron sighting, at least close enough for identifying one for sure.Kind of liked the the reflection in the water, lighting wasn't too bad for just having the camera preset on manual 20 miles down the road. BTW, this has not happened for me again. so much for luck.

For me 2014 has been a challenge with light like no other year and it is not ending well either. For the last 3 weeks the Sun has been out maybe once. I have to learn how to cope with the darkness as it appears to be here to stay.
Great thread, have enjoyed all the good pics so far and looking forward to more from others.
