I've been working on some editing techniques. Smoothing skin, evening skin tone, etc. Looking for some outside opinions. Does this look too processed? Any thoughts/advice on this shot would be most helpful.

Dec 22, 2014 00:33 | #2 Permanent banIn the lower left corner, there's a brighter area that looks like a second body —as if the shot had been taken through a window and you were reflected in the glass. It's... disturbing. 'The success of the second-rate is deplorable in itself; but it is more deplorable in that it very often obscures the genuine masterpiece. If the crowd runs after the false, it must neglect the true.' —Arthur Machen

Without all that flare, and the brighter area in the lower left corner, it would be a very nice shot. —Eric

saea501 ... spilled over a little on the panties More info | Dec 22, 2014 15:34 | #5 There is something wrong here.....maybe it's the angle of the shot, maybe it's the way her hair is swept all to the one side. Point being is that her face and head look misshapen. Her left cheek looks almost non existent compared to the right which in turn makes her head look a bit large toward the top. Remember what the DorMouse said.....feed your head.

Dec 22, 2014 17:38 | #7 Permanent banThe flare is gone, but her head still looks somewhat distorted. Now, she's got a long face to begin with, thus, the 3/4 view doesn't suit her very well. Are you shooting from a higher angle? For bust-length shots I'd align the camera so that the lens is centred with her nose, whilst for close ups I'd align the lens with her eyes. gonzogolf dumb remark memorialized More info | Dec 22, 2014 17:54 | #8 The rim light is better, but the pose is not flattering. You want to watch the eyes, they shouldn't be turned so far that you cant see white on both sides. Have her turn her head indtead of judt her eyes. You are still too low and it accentustes her long face too much. She is pretty but is probably better served by more straight-on angles.

Dec 22, 2014 22:16 | #11 What about this one? Other than I should have kept her arms in the shot. EF 100mm f/8 ISO 320 1/200 EOS 5D Mark II - EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM - EF 50mm f/1.4 USM - EF 40mm f/2.8 STM - Speedlite 600EX-RT - Alien Bees B800 x2

Dec 22, 2014 23:09 | #12 Permanent banThe head on angle is better for her facial shape; however the background didn't help you there. Those branches are way too in focus and thus, distracting. saea501 ... spilled over a little on the panties More info | Dec 23, 2014 15:17 | #14 Here again, because of the shadow on the left side of her face it looks flat compared to the curve of her right. Plus it makes her jaw look misaligned. Remember what the DorMouse said.....feed your head.

Dec 23, 2014 17:53 | #15 She did have an oddly shaped jaw. I knew that was going to be a trick to hide going in. Thank you all for your critiques. I really appreciate all the advice. I'll post more as I edit. EOS 5D Mark II - EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM - EF 50mm f/1.4 USM - EF 40mm f/2.8 STM - Speedlite 600EX-RT - Alien Bees B800 x2
