I know most of the country is devoid of hummers right now so I figured I would post up a couple shots from yesterday.
This guy was NOT HAPPY that my friend and I were walking around in his marsh. He buzzed us and then landed pretty close (10 ft).

Then his screaming at us began. It was pretty cool but we moved on. He followed us and did it a few times until we were sufficiently far away.

The light was awful. I think it was like noon so the light was very harsh but I managed to get a couple decent shots.

I know, no catch light but his eye is fairly light in the pic. You can almost see me in his eye. (near 100% crop)

Same perch, not nearly as upset. (near 100% crop)

He does look a little miffed :D

Excellent shots! What great color.

We still have Anna's and Costas here, but I haven't had time to shoot any lately :-(

What beautiful captures and it is so wonderful to see hummer pics. It will be many months before I see them here!

Great captures and story Jeremy, he is fierce looking in the first shot, makes you wonder if in his mind it was going to be a well matched fight. Our Ruby Throats don't have the best judgement sometimes, could be a Hummingbird trait.:-)
They are welcome images too, as stated before me, it will be months before Hummers are back here, miss both them and the nice warm weather they live in. Ah,maybe someday I can pack up their feeders and head South with them when they leave here.

Thanks Carla?
Steve and Red Dexs.

Yes this was with the 7d1. It's odd to call it that still. :-)

I just checked the pixel count.
That was a massive crop.

It is 1559x1039. That works out to under 2mp out of the original 18mp.
Still good quality but harsh light made it not as nice as it could have been.

Thanks Craig. He was ready for battle but didn't mess with us. Just lots of noise.

Love the attitude these little guys can have! And you got them at just the right reflective angles. Nicely done.

Thanks Peter and Ian

I had 10 or so shots of him and this is the only one that had detail in his gorget.

It's very hard to capture detail and the color.
