Last of the Dragons

Common Darters basking in the late autumn, evening sun. These were taken in November at Cosmeston Country Park, Vale of Glamorgan and are my last dragon captures for 2014. The Darters seemed to be particularly fond of perching on a wired fence post and it was lovely to see them as late as November. This is not uncommon for this particular species of dragonfly which tends to be the last dragon to vanish before the winter.

Nice captures. Does look like they're trying to collect a little warmth from the sun. #6 and #8 are my faves of the bunch.

Thanks for the comments. November may be late for Dragons in Wales but according to some Flickr members they are still to be seen in Spain. Beginning to wish I had never left my native country.
