So I go to use my Sigma 50 today and low and behold I have a problem - The "One Shot" is blinking on the display when I have the lens set to Auto Focus, this is happening on both my 1Dx and my 1DIII.

The lens worked just fine last week, this is a new issue.

Any ideas or is this going to need a trip out to Sigma ??

Unfortunately I've had this lens for over a year already -?

Spoke with Sigma, after trying a few things with them on the phone I'm sending the lens to them - they are thinking a bad auto focus motor.

If it ends up being cost prohibitive to fix they offered me a Sigma 50 Art for $640 + trade in of my lens - we'll see.

Well for anyone following it turned out to be a "broken af connector" according to Sigma.

It will cost me $120 to fix -?

The warranty card on my 120-300 says one year.

Oops - checking the site it's 1 year in the western hemisphere plus an additional 4 years in the USA. I had to check the website to learn this. Seems like a feature Sigma would prefer to advertise, no?

It's only to the original owner with proof of purchase. I bought it used 2 years ago.

This is good to know about Sigma...

Would you consider the Canon nifty 50? (50 f/1.8)?

i would not put $120 into fixing that lens - i would put $120 into reducing the 50mm Art price from $640 to $520 - you could turn around and sell that lens for more than $520 but not sure what you could sell your existing lens for

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.

Good point however I don't use a 50mm lens nearly enough to sink that kind of money into it, the non art worked just fine for me and if I get another 2 years out of it that's just fine.
