Buenos Días!

There are a few of these threads for different countries, cities, etc and I've often thought that Spain should have one ... then I realised how Spanish I've become because I saw that France has one and I thought "well, if France has one!" ... or maybe that's because I was British to start with.

Anyway, Spain's a beautiful and varied country that I'm happy to call home ... now. There's at least one other member who posts here living in Barcelona. Barcelona (and Madrid) is one of the cities that attracts many forum members on their trips around Europe, due to being absolutely stunning with some incredible architecture and a lovely location right on the Mediterranean. We also see quite a few people making trips South to Seville and Granada in Andalusia.

So if you've been to Spain, or if you're going, feel free to share a few photos, ask questions, what have you ...

My little contribution. I took this photo in Granada going to visit famous Alhambra.

Is that snow on the roof in the first one?

I visited Granada in early January. First day, after my arrival, there was a thin layer of hoar-frost in the morning. It melted immediately when the sun started shining stronger.

Ahh, I'd seen snow on the mountains behind it in other photos, quite common I imagine, but not on the Alhambra itself. I still need to visit Granada.

I have photos taken in Granada with Sierra Nevada mountains capped with snow. I think it's quite common destination for skiers, because I saw plenty of people at Malaga airport going there.
I can't say which season is the best for visiting Granada, but definitely it's a place which shouldn't be omitted.

Don't worry, I have a friend down there who won't let me miss it! I spoke to her this morning and she asked when I was going to visit ...

It's normally one of the first places you see news about snowfall and skiing on Spanish TV news, the Sierra Nevada - well, the word Nevada comes from Snow (Nieve).

Thanks for the information. I didn't know that word Nevada derives from snow.

Nice. I like the perspective and the depth to it showing the beauty in the many rows and columns. Can't wait to go ... maybe next month actually!

As thread starter I feel responsible for keeping this going ... a couple from Galicia in the North of Spain, a beautiful region and very different from the typical image we have of the country - green, hilly and temperate in climate (some would say "wet").

A lesser-visited (probably) church in Santiago de Compostela ...

I omitted totally northern and north-west Spain to have a reason to come back

Still plenty of places left for me to go - I've only spent a few days in Galicia and Pais Vasco (Basque Country); Asturias and Cantabria still await me as well.

Thanks! I'm having a black and white phase again recently ... not that these are recent, but anyway, thanks for the encouragement on the black and whites. I may keep the phase running a while longer now!
