Samples follow.

So I typically will complete my LR/PS6 editing saving an image as a tiff and then as a jpeg, if emailing. So I emailed myself this image and as the image opens it changes, initially as I had edited it, but then doom and gloom takes it over.

Am I doing something wrong in saving the image? Is there a setting I've missed?

Granted the subject is weird, but here are two screen prints I got as the image opened. Never mind the Oof, the capture took place as the image opened.

The question is, is ps6 doing something to my jpeg files that causes them to turn as they do when opening the file in an email? I'm beginning to suspect that a setting within ps6 has been altered which either causes or would have prevented the discoloration.

Are you using hotmail or whatever Microsoft calls itself? They used to resample jpeg files to save space. Other systems may do it too.

Have you checked the file sizes before and after?

Gmail. I have a client who mentioned similar issues when I used we transfer.com to send jpeg files.

Gmail does compress jpegs, and I did reduce the image size to 1024, keeping the highest quality, but this typically hasn't had any bearing on my past emailings.

I get the feeling I threw a switch somewhere in ps, causing this problem.

Just a guess but do you sometimes export final images from Lightroom and other times from Photoshop? This looks like an incorrect colourspace has been used or an incorrect colour space profile applied to the file, which is causing non-colour managed applications to display the image incorrectly. This sometimes happens because PS has different ways to export files. When using Save for Web the file is automatically converted to sRGB but other export options don't do that so (depending on how you export/save) you end may or may not have a problem file and confusion as to what is going on).

In your attached photos I'd say it is the iPad that is doing the damage. It is not color managed, so unless you are sending in sRGB it will not render colors correctly. And judging by my Mini, when resizing the image display to fit the screen its algorithm is not a world-beater.

I'll check to see if I have the sRGB preference selected on ps6. Both my phone and iPad did the same thing.

Thanks, I'll check it out and report back.

Rrrrr…ummm…I went into ps, saw that the sRGB wasn't on, selected it, reserved image, emailed it to myself, problem solved.

Let this be a lesson to us all! LOL!
