Thinking about trying a Eye Fi Mobi SD card. Has anyone used one. Will be using it with a Android cell phone and Canon t3i, t5i and SL1. Any info will be helpful.

Have you fully researched the capabilities of the Mobi (vs. other versions of Eye Fi products) about whether or not it meets your needs?

For example, while it can store RAW data written by the camera, it does not WiFi Transfer any RAW data.

I use one in my RX100 mkI and it works well. It is great if you are out and take a shot that you want to share quickly. I transfer them and do a little touch up in snapseed and it works pretty well.

I have had an eye-fi card for about 6yrs now. They are great for the WOW factor but other than that I have not found much use for it.
The card is terribly slow, unless you use direct mode, you need to send your data to eye-fi first, which has presented major problems when using portable hotspots due to the proxying implemented by the telcos.
Eye-Fi are not interested in feedback from their customer base (just check the forums)
Their software gets overly complicated when you decide to step slightly out of the templates they have created.
The software is also buggy, some pictures do not get sent some get corrupted while being written due to the slowness of the card.

I have come across loads of other issues as well.

There are quite a few alternatives out there.

I agree with tttedzeins - bought it... Fun gadget but too slow. Admittedly this was a number of years ago and keep thinking about trying a new

I have the Pro model and use it only in ad hoc mode. It's great... when it works. It works well when uploading JPEG images to my iPad, but it's finicky when it comes to "tethering" to Lightroom like I originally intended to use it (to upload an image and show full screen automatically after each shot). I need to go back and set everything up again and retry it. Sometimes it works great and other times it just gets stuck on "transferring" and the photos never arrive on the computer.

For now, I still keep my long active USB cord in my bag as a backup, since it always works reliably.

I decided to go for the Toshiba flash air after some research. It appeared more flexible. I have dual cards in the dslrs also raw goes to cf and small jpeg to the flash air. Being class 10 it keeps up well. Covering sports for a school being able to cull and transmit Web use photos in real time is a game changer. SID has key shots before the game is over, that's huge in a time sensitive environment.

I've even been at events where dslrs photos beat iPhone snapshots to social media. That may sound petty but it has lead to followers with like interests and sparked conversations. My fuji, that has wifi built-in not the SD card, wifi meant no need to sit at the laptop except a nightly backup while visiting family. Made me more human and connected, less of a computer geek. For most day to day shooting it does just occupy the slot without changing much.

For android I'd recommend having photoshop express and snapseed on hand for basic photo editing.

I have one, its cool if your taking generic pics that you can share right away. I have done that at events for people that don't care about processing and want shots right away.

I have a pair of Pro cards....
90% of my use is for around the house and at family events... pics go right to the ipad, and its a lot easier to let my family members (especially the weaker ones) hold up and ipad and pass that around than letting them look at the small screen on the camera... and I (or someone else) can keep on shooting while the iPad is passed around....
I do take it with me on some engagement or family shoots... its nice and quick to go over shots, give/receive feedback and help for poses...

I have a 16GB Pro and a Mobi (can't remember size). Mobi is good if I want to switch to jpeg only and have my tablet around. My Pro actually lives in my P&S camera on my motorcycle. Makes for quick uploads of roadside shots when I'm out and about. However, I have used it in the DSLR too. My 7dmk2 let's me keep the wifi disabled to that may encourage me to set it up to write jpeg to the mobi and RAW to the CF. Then I can control when the mobi tries to send images. That auto send feature kind of bugged me. Specially when it takes over the wifi network on the tablet while it transfers.

Anyway, interesting tech and fun to play with.
