Hi need some advise,

When I installed Photoshop both programs are on my pic. When I save files they go all over and I get frustrated trying to find them. This is complicated by also using lightroom 4. I never had any problems before Windows 7 and the dual bit programs. Any tips would be appreciated?

This makes no sense. There is no connection between where an application is installed or what other applications have been installed and where a file is placed when you save it. It is placed in the location that you choose, either in the same folder that you chose previously or another folder of your choosing. They don't "go all over" and Windows 7 is no different from any other OS is this respect. As for LR, when you import files they are either copied or moved to a destination that you choose or are added to the catalog without their location being changed, thus remaining where you put them. It sounds like you are either suffering from a serious memory problem for which you should seek help or are hitting the Save button with eyes closed.

Agree with Elle here. Didn't understand the entire post at first.

Are you using "Save As?" When using it, you are always asked where to save a file. This is universal and across every application I can think of (not just Photoshop) and every version of Windows thru history.

The statement files are being saved "all over" is, to me, bizarre. Even if you don't use Save As that allows you to choose the location, and you use Save - it usually saves the files back into the same folder it was opened from.

What happens is that the saved files go into folders and sometimes sub folders. I use save as and see the folder where the file is to be placed but when I go to open it up at a later date it is hard to find. Here is an example. I work on a file in lightroom 4 than open it to further edit in cs5. When I save the file it indicates it will be saved to folder 2014-09-20. When I open cs5 at a later date there is no folder 2014-09-20. It is buried in several sub folders. The first one in this example is 20140518 than there may be additional folders to open such as in this example 2014 than finally I find 2014-09-20.
