Too many OOF shots today as my son kept moving. Only got this one, @f1.8 on my 1dmk2. Cropped and vignetting added in post to reduce window highlights.

How much is this lens on a 1.6 crop body usable for portraits (face proportions like nose bigger and such). Ive read a lot like it's not a big deal on a 1.6 crop, but still you can see it to a 50mm or 70mm (~90mm) lens. How far do I have to be away so this problem does not occur, and how much does that have effect on the face resolution, for example eye detail. I mean if I would need to be away at least 2m/6.5feet there's a lot of background in the photo, I would need to crop the person/face and I cannot shoot DOF pictures of the face too for example right, because that's limited to not get distortions of the perspective. Thanks a lot for reading.
