I played around with the sliders in Lightroom until I got something I liked. The sky was really bright that day so wanted to bring it back. I increased vibrancy, saturation of some colors, and adjusted curves in Lightroom to reduce light and highlight value. Pretty much it :)

Thank you guys! I was skeptical at first reading about all the "problems" but after using it for a bit, I love the FL and images can be really sharp, you just have to know how to get the most out of your equipment!

I just got my new sigma 30mm 1.4 less than 45 minutes ago!! I took some tests shots and this lens has exceeded my expectations!! I was worried about getting a bad copy but I guess I got lucky, cuz mine is spot on and sharp! :)

I swear I am reading more and more post that say "I was worried about getting a bad copy, but I must have got lucky..." This is such an incredible lens on the 1.6 crop ( I guess it doesn't really work too well on FF). There is a reason this thread has 375 pages! Loving it!

Honestly, I think most people test their lenses wide open....obviously, it will be very soft wide open with such shallow DOF.

At 1.4 yes very shallow DOF, but not necessarily "very soft" at the focal point. I put up a simple shot yesterday at f/1.4 that I think is quite sharp at this aperture. This lens is great.

yea. i tested mine wide open and was happy that it was not super soft but still was a totally usable shot. too many people test it wide open with such a shallow DOF handheld and more than likely their body shifts which causes focus to shift and therefore bad remarks about the sigma. if people had more common sense about why it is soft or why it is slightly front focusing rather than user error because of handheld use there would be nearly as many lucky buyers and many more happy users with their new purchase.

i bet if you test this wide open on sticks and wide open handheld it would shine more and disprove all these lucky buyers and show that this lens is just fine its just user error i bet. wish i had sticks to do a test for the skeptic sigma buyer
