Still it is not ok be cause AF often miss - especially at close distance - so calibration will be needed. what do U think about it? thanks! idsurfer Cream of the Crop More info | Nov 08, 2011 09:28 | #6114 Hey Krisnr, Nice shots of the cars through the windows. However, I am always amazed at how many people are so obsessed about shooting wide open. I don't see the advantage unless you are using it for low light situations where you cannot use flash. Personally I think the number of situations where you would choose WO apertures for creative purposes are limited especially at close focal distances. For example a portrait would not normally be shot WO unless needed for light purposes. So I took a look at your EXIF info for the B&W ferarri shot to see if I would have used a WO aperture for that shot. Also, it looked as if the DOF was pretty good for 1.4. THis is what flickr says Cory

idsurfer Cream of the Crop More info | Nov 08, 2011 11:25 | #6116 I have done the same thing. I get home and look at EXIF data and think to myself "What the heck was I thinking shooting with those settings?" Sometimes you can just bump a dial and you're done. You are right that primes have more pros than just fast apertures. I think they have a certain "je ne sais quoi" if you will that makes thier IQ something special. Maybe it is the unique perspective certain focal distances can lead to. Bottom line is I love primes and this sigma 30 mm is totally awesome on whichever 1.6 body you may have. Keep em coming folks!

I had one, but I found I didnt use it as much as my 17-50 2.8 and 11-16 2.8. but now I want something faster and with more of a shorter DOF. Cant wait to get it.
