Resisting the temptation to buy used. Its a savings of $150.00 or so, but I promised myself I would buy new based on my Sigma 50 exeprience. Samy's has one 30 in stock in Pasadena. I thought I would buy and test based on their return policy. Want to go local so I can exchange/return in person.

I loved it :) \m/

One thing i noticed about my 30mm compared to say the 50mm f1.4 (canon) is the focus ring is way, way stiffer and makes it virtually impossible to do any smooth video work. Anyone else have this issue?

I bought a used one some weeks ago,and when I got it I noticed it was wery tight ,almost like a 'dry' feeling to it. So I went down to the lps and tried the one they had there, and it was smooth as butter.

Now it's at the local sigma workshop and I just had a look at the progress and the parts from Japan have arrived, and they are done and shipping it back to me today.

Org post with youtube video of the lens.

For et blikk :-)

Got mine back from the fix today, but it still feels tight in the focus ring.
Will play some more with it before I deside if I send it in once more.

Some quick shots from today. How does the IQ looks like to you folks ?

^^ 15.7 inches is pretty close, I don't recommend using extension tubes on this lens for macros as it puts you right on top of your subject and you lose all natural lighting.

In fact it's closer than most 50mm. Since it's a standard lens for apsc, I think that's good enough. And gaives me a reason to keep my 50mm

Great, sharp capture of beautiful blue eyes...although her expression is eerie, and borderline terrifying.
