Can't wait! Took a few practice shots around the house and it looks pretty sharp so far! Any tips for making sure I don't have a dud?

I'm going to have to try this. I plan to sell my Tokina 12-24 and Sigma 30, but I may have to delay selling the 30 until I'm ready to buy the 35L. If I can crop away most of the vignetting, I may use it longer than I had previously considered.

Yes, it's very usable on the 5DmarkII, though not ideal.

It's a very sharp copy that my wife has been using on her 40D (and that I used on my old 1DmarkII).

Another with the 5DmarkII at f/2.5 and iso2000:
