I went. The weather really sucked today. Heavy rain all the way, 84 miles worth each way. Just got home a couple of hours ago. On a bright note, they said my lens was actually in good shape but was back focusing a bit, as I thought. They checked it out for less than a half hour and modified the software or some such thing and AF is now dead on. Very pleased with their service and desire to satisfy their customers. Thanks for your interest.

And for this I will buy NOTHING but Sigma lenses from now on. I love Canon, but Sigma goes above and beyond. You almost wanted them to take longer I bet driving all that way...LOL

Actually I was fine with the amount of time. I was just concerned that they wouldn't find anything wrong with it and I would have made a trip for nothing. Very nice folks. Spent about 10 minutes talking to me about the lens before they started work on it and another 10-15 minutes after they brought it back out. So I was actually there close to an hour.

B&H finally received my return, and unfortunately have sent me an email stating that the item is now discontinued. They have given me 3 options.

1) Please send this item instead _______________.

2) Leave as store credit

3) Refund instead.

Wish they had stated that when I processed the return, I would have sent it to sigma instead. Oh well. Guess Ill take my refund. :(

Ask for it back. Once Sigma gets the lens and body it is s different lens. B&H will probably sell it for 399 used now...lol

Thank you for the detailed reports, Mark! Glad to hear that they got you fixed up.

Will you be doing any chart tests? If yes, please share.

My lens is due to arrive from Adorama via mailman today. I can't wait!

I doubt if I'll be doing any more testing. The focus is now dead on and the lens is very sharp in the center at f/1.4, although at that aperture its soft in the corners. Its really much sharoer at f/2.8 and by f/4 its pretty sharp corner to corner.

Well the mailman came, and am I ever disappointed! I opened the box, took out the lens and 'tried' to mount the lens on my camera. I say 'tried' because the lens does not fit! Upon closer inspection I discovered that the lens that I received is for a SIGMA mount!

I don't know who is at fault here: me or Adorama, but I am sorely disappointed!

I had this exact same experience last month. When the lens first went on sale for $289, I missed out on Amazon because I hesitated on ordering it while at work.... then B&H and Adorama both sold out for a minute. I got back on a while later and when I refreshed I saw B&H had them in stock. I hastily got out my credit card and purchased what I thought was the Sigma for Canon lens. When UPS guy dropped it off a few days later, it was a LITTLE too small for my T3i..... Man that was a disappointing evening. Oh well, I finally got it right, but now I'm certain my copy has focus issues as well. Contemplating sending it to Sigma from Missouri for calibration. Not sure what the shipping/insurance cost would be on that trip though.

Oh well, just thought I'd share and tell you I feel your pain!

It is a good thing to have a vendor who frequents user forums. They can make sure they are on top of user trends and issues. And I have heard the Helen has been right on top of any issues.
That is customer service in my book.
