why the majenta cast or is it my monitor (at work) good use of shutter speed slight bright spot at bottom this often happens with long exposures try under exposing 1/3 as well normal shot if this was the only one well done however i try to take 4/5 images from different positions if possible

my eyes wander around but go nowhere?

It's the colors that make this shot. Very nice. However, I'm not sure that I've ever seen any running water that blue.
The composition is very good for such a tight crop.

I'm always amazed at how few moving water pictures are taken at critical shutter speeds. To my way of thinking, it is necessary to find that shutter speed that just barely shows that the water is moving, but 99% of the shots are taken with relatively long exposures and end up with no detail in the water at all.

At 1/4" your shot is borderline, I would expect that the effect that I'm looking for would come in at somewhere around 1/30".

I think one of the reasons this shot is successful is the lines of the rocks creating a "triangle" at the base of the waterfall. This makes the movement in the shot even more dynamic.
