I was out today in the late evening and tried to take some Christmas Lights shots with my XT-1. I did observe something weird. When I point the camera, looking into the EVF or the LCD, I see a nice preview just like I see with my eyes but lights look little off (exposure wise, like some are off). When I half press shutter, right before the instant I press the shutter, I would see all of the lights, just like I see with my naked eye but right at the moment I half pressed the shutter, bunch of lights would appear off. This will remain so as long as I kept the shutter half pressed. If I look at the taken shot, of course if would have much less lights on.

I know lights flickr and it probably something to do with shutter speed but I tried all combinations except shooting really longer exposures (had no tripod) but no luck. So I pulled my cell phone and took a shot. And guess what, I get a picture which looks exactly like I see with my eye. All lights appear to be ON. I look at the exif data, and settings seems quite same to what I was using on my XT-1, ISO2000, f2.8, 1/14. Tried same settings on XT-1 and again, on half press of shutter, more than half lights turn off on display and remain so when I preview the shot.

So what could be going on and what to do about it?

Check your exposure, you are probably underexposed, and see if you have Exposure Preview Off. If it's off, you will see a bright image in the EVF/LCD, but it doesn't represent the actual exposure.
