I bought these cheap Yongnuo triggers a couple years back with my 460s and it worked flawlessly in a 3 flash setup. My strobist interest died down for a couple years and was revived recently. When using it with my 580ex2 x1, there seems to be a problem - the flash is triggered only half the time. I have changed all the batteries - the flash, transmitter and receiver but to no avail. It is also most certainly not because the flash is recycling. the transmitter is also working well - every press on the transmitter triggers the flash 10 out of 10 times.

Is there anything else I should try before deciding it should become a paper weight? I probably popped less than 300 times using the set of Tx/Rx.

Thanks!

Make it a paper weight.

Trigger tech has progressed rapidly over the last few years, and your choices are vastly superior to your 301s.

I have seen the latest releases, but the biggest downside so far is the size and weight of the transmitters and receivers. Is there any new trigger that can match the size of my CTR301p while maintaining 10/10 shot triggering?

thanks.

is there a need to mod my trigger, since I am only using it with my 580s/460s?

Decide for yourself, but described trigger mod is simple and suitable also for your flashes.

Rf 602/603.

If you're a tinkerer, have the time and are attached to your 301s, then go for it.

Personally, I can't believe anybody would want to go back five years to the dark days of crappy triggers on the wrong frequencies that needed aerial mods to get the little sh!ts to work slightly better.

I have a pile of pt04s if you have too much hair at present...

+1 :) however CTR-301P is sufficient for the tasks of the TS
