Well, my lens arrived late yesterday but no photos yet (OK, I did take a shot of some flowers in my planter :D ). Today, the weather is hot (105°), humid and hazy so I'm not sure if I'll get out this afternoon or not.

A quick question regarding metering for aerial shots. Do you typically use spot or evaluative or anything else in between?

A first shot using my new lens.

Unless the conditions are really challenging (very low light or really backlit) I find my MkIII and MkIV work best in full evaluative.

If I think the light will hold for a while and I feel like getting off Tv Mode, I'll point down sun at blank blue sky and meter that about +1/3 and shoot that setting in Manual.

^^ I agree, great timing and very interesting shot.

This is the first real chance I've had to use my new lens. I apologise in advance that the lighting is poor. This weekend I should have more opportunities to shoot at a better time of day.

Shot using my 7D + 300 f2.8 + 2x TC = 600mm @ f5.6.

I'm aware I cut his feet off in this one.

I barely caught up with him when he suddenly decided to take off.

I went to Hemet/Ryan Field this afternoon but as you can see, I was still fighting hot, hazy air and it doesn't matter whether I go there in the morning or afternoon this time of year, the light is always on the wrong side.

Maybe I'll check out March Field this weekend.
