Hey all, just a quick question. I've been shooting with USM glass all these while, and now I might want to try the 35 f/2 since I like the 35mm focal length but can't afford the 35 f/1.4L yet. How's the focusing on it with the 5D2? Buzzy loud but fast? 50mm f/1.8-ish slow?

Its fine. Its buzzy, but plenty fast. But I don't shoot action with a 35mm lens anyways. ;)

Great shots everyone. I love checking this thread to see how everyone is using this little gem.

It's funny, I had a little trouble with my 35mm f/2 when I first got it. Thin DoF and no IS took some adjustment on my end. Plus, my lens came from Canon with a slight front-focus problem, which was resolved by Canon's local service/repair location. Now that I've had time to use it more and compare it to the 50mm f/1.8, I really appreciate the 35mm a lot more. The sharpness at f/2 is really impressive, and the AF noise is just not an issue for me. Using it on a T1i, the focal length is just right for me shooting indoors.

I love this little lens. :)

How's the focusing on it with the 5D2? Buzzy loud but fast? 50mm f/1.8-ish slow?

I find it better than the 50mm f/1.8, but not as fast and accurate as a USM (my USM experience is limited to the 15-85mm).

I'm loving this little lens but still have much to learn. I've never owned anything with such a thin DoF and still trying to understand how to get what I want out of it.

That was as close as I was. No cropping involved.

Its a great lens for crop bodies, but I find it vignettes quite a bit on a FF.

Heres one wide open on my old XSI
