Hi all! i'm new to these forums, but i found a lot of useful stuff over here.. Photography is just my hobby, i'm not earning any money with it yet, so my equipment list is quite basic right now. I currently own this lens and here is what i can say about it. Having spent some substantial amount of $$$ for moving to a full frame body - yes it was my long time dream
, i couldn't afford buying several lens just from start. I had to buy one lens to suit me for various types of occasions, and canon ef 35mm is just what i wanted. It's great focal length on a full frame, good for portraits and wide enough even for landscapes. The lens is sharp straight from f2. It does miss focus sometimes, but not as often as 50mm 1.8 II that i had on my previous body - canon 40d. Sure the IQ or build quality is not L grade. And maybe the contrast could have been better. I don't care on the buzzy AF being not USM too much though, however some ppl may not like it. This lens is old classic canon design and it does have it's own style. The colors and bokeh rendered by this lens look very much film-like on a full frame, so i assume it could be very useful for vintage or retro b/w photography.
I have this lens for only 2 month, and still getting used to it.. but here are some samples i can show you.
Below are some regular every-day images of my 9 month old son and my wife
These are not from any kinds of photosessions..
