Just got it today. Of course, it was dark by the time I got the box open, so here's a few quick and dirty test shots indoors.

All shots are ISO 100, bounced flash. The first is f2, the second, f4.

I am really excited by this lens. It's so much easier to use indoors than a 50mm. Dof seems easy to control, and the somewhat soft wide open shots will probably sharpen right up in post...I just haven't had much time to mess around yet.

The minimum focus distance is excellent. I think it may be a bit overpriced, now that it runs about $330 new, but I'm quite happy with my refurb. Aside from the plain white box, the lens appears to be completely new.

It sure is loud, but no worse than a nifty, and it may be only slightly louder than my ancient-but-always-mounted 35-105.

Having had the 35mm f/2 and the 50mm f/1.8 for a while now, I can say I really like the 35mm much better. At f/2 my 35mm is quite sharp - much sharper than my 50 mm wide open. However, I did have some trouble with my 35mm when I first received it. I was having trouble getting sharp shots and eventually determined that it was front focusing a bit. I sent it to Canon and they confirmed the front focus and adjusted the lens. When I got it back, it was much better and has become one of my favorite lenses. Shooting my kids playing around the house, the 35mm is a better focal length and being able to shoot wide open really helps.

Enjoy! And, I promise you will barely notice the sound of the AF motor in a few weeks. :)

Did you order a new one? Adorama had them in stock, last I checked.

Canon still has refurbs in stock (when I looked Tuesday) and that's the route I went.

I live in UK so I ordered a new one from Calumet UK. All other reatilers here are out of stock:confused:.

Expecting for a new edition, I really wish Canon to include an USM in the revised one.

From the first edition of EF35mm f/2, it has been 21 years without an upgrade.
So I think it should be revised as well as the new EF100mm f/2.8L and the nifty fifty, to enhance its efficiency and stability.

Lol, has Calumet gotten them back in stock yet? It's always terrible to sit around and wait for something, especially when there are image threads like this to push you over the edge.

I see you got the genuine hood. I should look into that, but I have a feeling it's almost as much as the lens itself, lol.

Since I was curious, I checked the date code on my refurb lens that I got what, two weeks ago? It's from 2005. Makes me wonder just how much stock on some of these lenses Canon keeps.
