Keep in mind that they're coming out with a new version of the Sigma 30mm very soon, I would wait for that personally... or save up and get the awesome Sigma 35/1.4

Took this lens out a couple times and really love having a wider angle. It's come in handy quite a bit already! Definitely need to get used to it more, but my favorite part is being able to focus so much closer. The 50 1.4 was starting to get annoying when I constantly had to backup because of the subject being too close.

Actually, they are selling the original Sigma 30 for dirt cheap right now. Like less than $300. If I were in the market for a fast prime for crop, I would jump on this. The Sigma 30 is substantially better than the Canon 35f2. Unless you are shooting full frame of course.

I've had both. definitely the Sigma. Larger max aperture, much better AF.

Thanks man.

Is sigma 30mm better for some one to stick with crop body for some time compared to this.

Yes I'd say so, the Sigma 30mm was my favourite lens on my old 7D. This Canon is OK for the money, but it's only a stop gap for me until I save enough for a 35mm f1.4.

Oh, in that case, jump on it! I'd have still gone with this one simply because I plan on going FF soon, but there's no doubt the Sigma has the edge.

^Thank you! Feel free to check out my Flickr, I did a series of the tracks ;)

I was driving by and the observation you pointed out is precisely why I stopped to shoot there :)
