It is a canon T2i, my favorite things to take pictures of are old building, especially old run down buildings.

The colors and contrast can definitely be made better by shooting RAW and doing your own processing, even more important than that though is getting the exposure right, I would also look into HDR if you're into shooting buildings. As for the lens, the 18-55 is a fairly sharp lens for what it is, the 35 is definitely sharper, but it's going to be pretty tight on your T2i. I would look through all your EXIF data on the images you've taken and see what your most popular focal length is, then decide what type of prime would work best for you based on your current shooting style. To me usually wider lenses are better for shooting buildings, my 35 even on my full frame 6D isn't quite wide enough to me for that type of shooting, 28mm would be about the minimum to me on full frame, so on a crop 18mm, but again, it comes down to your preference. That's your problem in my opinion. Try shooting RAW for a while plus JPEG and try out Adobe Lightroom 4, I believe they do a free trial run. It's very easy to use software and it can really let you get so much more from your images. Fuji X-T3 // Fuji X-Pro2 (Full Spectrum) // Fuji X-H1 // Fuji X-T1

I feel that DPP is easy to use and does enough for what I want to do. I never do much post-processing anyway. I just want to adjust some levels, adjust white balance, and crop. Sometimes people scan through these sample threads just looking at pics to see if a lens strikes them, and they might think your pics came from the 35 F2 unless they caught your short text saying they are from the kit lens.
