Anything I should do after my lens dropped?

My 5dm3 with a EF 24-70mm 1:2.8 L on a tripod was knocked over and it fell on the lens onto a hard travertine floor. Fortunately, the lens cap was on, though it cracked around the edges. So far, everything seems fine with it, though I was just wondering if there is anything I should do or check? Just want to see if there are any adjustments or any of the sort that I should consider?

Thanks.

Do a quick MFA and listen for loose thing in the lens. Take photos and see if it works. I have one (Tamy 70-300 VC) that has been dropped twice. It's got sand under the focus ring and a cracked front element but it still works fine. Tamron want $300 to repair it which I will do soon but it's still in service and producing.

Canon lenses are almost bulletproof. Mine have withstood many falls, crashes in walls on a tripod, and C Stands knocking into them. They are designed with rough professional use in mind, so the components on the inside are extremely tight and secured. It will take several falls for the lens to stop working normally.

There are stories of people with protective UV filters on the front of the lens breaking the protective UV filter, but the lens itself works just like new. I'm sure you're fine.

You Sir, have some very odd sense of humour.
Now I know I will never buy anything that you sell as pristine. :p

Cheers.

I did this with my XTI w/BG on the kit cheapo lens. The cap broke and the UV filter shattered. After I cleaned up the front element everything seemed fine and the autofocus still worked so I used it for another year or so before I upgraded to a decent lens and sold this one. I haven't heard any complaints from my friend who I sold it to.

Make sure its clean and try it out. Listen for any noises that you didn't hear before.
