It looks so glamorous being a professional model doesn't it? Well things aren't always what they seem.

This picture was taken while on a commercial shoot last summer during a brutal South Florida heat wave. The model on the far right was decked out in a lovely black evening dress and looked like she was heading out for a night on the town. The only problem... she was standing on a paved driveway all afternoon while we shot a series of commercials for a spray-on car wax product. If the blaring sun wasn't hot enough, she even had to endure more heat from my very hot HMI television lights.

At the end of a very long day, she actually had to hand wax the car to demonstrate how easy it was to use the product. Now that's what you call "paying your dues". :( :(

Well at least that's usually what people think Dan.

Actually, professional models do have the best job in the industry. Normally they're pampered like royalty and have tons of money thrown at them. But as you can see here, that's not always the case.

Thanks very much for your comments. :D

Somewhere in that neighborhood, there was probably a construction crew working on a roof all day. Everything's relative.

Nice shot, Joel!

Shooting on location can be a bummer. But what the heck, the guy got his car waxed. Thanks for sharing Joel.

I think you and Curtis may have misunderstood me. I and no one else in the crew were complaining, especially the model. (Check out the smiles on everyones faces.) I just thought our POTN members would be interested in seeing a behind-the-scenes television shoot. I also wanted to point out that modeling isn't always a walk in the park. After all the poor girl had to wax a car in the hot Florida sun, in a black evening dress and heels.

Ramo we were shooting a series of commercials for EZ Wax car products.
Thanks very much for your comments everyone. I appreciate them very much! :D

Hot lights. People taking pictures of me all day.
I don't think I'll ever have that problem.
I'm just not that pretty... :)

Your job looks interesting though.

That's true but IMO we do it because we love the creative freedom it affords us. Last week I shot 5 commercials for Harley Davidson in two days. The first day was about 11 hours long and the second day was 14 1/2 hours.

Thanks for looking & your comments Doc and Jon. I appreciate it very much. :D

You could not hv said it better. When you are passionate about it the long hours seems to pass by very fast.
